In Western European countries, it is considered an indicator of sustainable regional food production if the seller of meat products knows the breeder of the animals he is processing. In former Yugoslavia, as here in Bosnia and Herzegovina, this „service“ goes even further.
There, as a buyer, you can still get to know the cow or bull from which you will buy a steak the next day, alive in the meadow in front of the slaughterhouse, which is right next to the butcher’s shop.
