Tito und Paul McCartney sind bzw. waren weltbekannt, (erfolg)reich und Frauenschwärme. Und in gewisser Weise war Tito zu seiner Zeit auch ein Popstar.
Was haben Tito und Paul McCartney noch gemeinsam?
Glaubt man Verschwörungstheoretikern, dann haben sie jedoch noch etwas wesentlich Exklusiveres gemeinsam: Nach deren Meinung wurden nämlich beide durch ein Double ausgetauscht!
Toter Beatle „zum Leben erweckt“?
Bei Paul McCartney soll das 1968 nach einem tödlichen Verkehrsunfall erfolgt sein, da man den Fans den Verlust eines Beatles und dem Unternehmen „Beatles“ denjenigen künftiger Einkünfte nicht zumuten wollte. Deshalb habe man seinen Tod verschwiegen und ein Doppelgänger seine Rolle habbe übernommen. (Für hartgesottenen Beatles-Fans habe man dazu einige „eindeutige“ Botschaften auf diversen Platten-Covers und in verschiedenen Liedern versteckt.)
Unzuverlässigen Genossen liquidiert und ersetzt?
Bei Tito verhält sich die Sache noch etwas komplizierter.
Josip Broz soll nämlich – wohl weil das „Original“ nicht genug Gewähr für eine Politik im Sinne der Sowjetunion bot – schon 1937 bei einem Moskau-Aufenthalt gegen einen russischen Spion ausgetauscht worden sein.
Als einer der „Beweise“ gilt sein etwas ungewöhnlicher Akzent, den sogar der CIA analysierte, um ebenfalls zu dem Ergebnis zu kommen, Tito sei kein Jugoslawe gewesen. (Andere verweisen jedoch darauf, dass Titos Sprachweise für seine ländliche Heimatgegend durchaus normal war.)
Wenn die Doppelgänger-These stimmen würde, dann wäre im Falle Tito einiges aus dem Ruder gelaufen, da Tito (bzw. sein Doppelgänger?) 1948 ja den Bruch mit der Sowjetunion herbeiführte. Wäre er ein russischer Spion gewesen, dann hätte er sich also verselbständigt und wäre zur „unguided missile“ geworden.
„Ersatzleute“ mindestens so erfolgreich wie Originale
Gemeinsam wäre beiden, McCartney und Tito, bzw. ihren „Ersatzleuten“, jedenfalls, dass sie in ihren Rollen ziemlich erfolgreich geworden wären und das Original übertrafen hätten.
Tito 2 führte erfolgreich den Partisanenkampf gegen die Besatzer und dann glückte ihm, was vermutlich noch schwieriger war, die Loslösung Jugoslawiens vom sowjetischen Einfluss, ohne dass es deswegen zu einem militärischen Konflikt kam. Und Paul 2 (unter Anhängern diesbezüglicher Verschwörungstheorien auch „Faul“ genannt) schreib nach dem Tod des Originals mit „Hey Jude“ die erfolgreichste Single der Beatles.

Dead Beatle „brought back to life“?
In the case of Paul McCartney, this is said to have happened in 1968 after a fatal traffic accident, because the fans were not willing to accept the loss of a Beatle and the company „Beatles“ was not willing to accept the loss of future earnings. Therefore his death was kept secret and a double took over his role. (For die-hard Beatles fans, they have hidden some „clear“ messages on various record covers and in various songs).
Unreliable comrades liquidated and replaced?
With Tito things are a bit more complicated.

Josip Broz is said to have been exchanged for a Russian spy during a stay in Moscow as early as 1937 – probably because the „original“ did not offer enough guarantee for a policy in the sense of the Soviet Union.
One of the „proofs“ is his somewhat unusual accent, which even the CIA analysed to come to the conclusion that Tito was not Yugoslavian. (Others, however, point out that Tito’s manner of speaking was quite normal for his rural home region).
If the doppelganger thesis would be correct, then in the case of Tito some things would have got out of hand, since Tito (or his double?) in 1948 caused the break with the Soviet Union. If he had been a Russian spy, he would have become independent and would have become an „unguided missile“.
„Replacements“ at least as successful as originals
What both McCartney and Tito, or rather their „substitutes“, have in common is that they would have been quite successful in their roles and would have surpassed the original.

Tito 2 successfully led the partisan fight against the occupying forces and then he succeeded, which was probably even more difficult, in freeing Yugoslavia from Soviet influence without causing a military conflict. And Paul 2 (also called „Faul“ among supporters of conspiracy theories in this respect) wrote the most successful single of the Beatles after the death of the original with „Hey Jude“.
Who needs originals anymore?
